A woman was arrested on Sunday for trying to smuggle a cellphone to Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir being held in Zonderwater Correctional Centre.
Krejcir is said to have plotted and planning several prison breaks. A few weeks ago several items were confiscated from his cell.
They reportedly included a pistol, ammunition, cell phones and memory sticks.
His wife and son were deported a few months ago.
Krejcir, who has been charged with a number of cases, has been behind bars since November 2012.
In September, the former Bedfordview businessman was found guilty of kidnapping and attempting to deal in drugs in an unrelated case.
